“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”
Coretta Scott King (1927 – 2006) was an activist and author in her own right who came to be known as the “First Lady of the Civil Rights Movement.” When MLK Jr. was assassinated in 1968, Coretta carried on his work. Under her leadership, the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change was founded in Atlanta. She expanded the civil rights platform to include women’s and LGBT rights and came out against the Vietnam war. It was through her relentless petitioning that we now commemorate MLK Jr. Day each January. After her death, Antioch College (her alma mater) dedicated the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom to “facilitate learning, dialogue, and action to advance social justice.”
This paint-by-number kit would be a great addition to a wall of history-making, ground-breaking people and is a great complementary piece to the MLK kit.
This is a fantastic modern spin on the vintage paint-by-number kit. I love that the backgrounds are printed-in as this adds a depth and sophistication unmatched in the early kits. Makes a terrific gift.
This paint-by-number kit features the civil rights activist and wife of Martin Luther King Jr. The pre-printed, full-color background surrounds Coretta with billowing clouds.
Completing the painting can take between 3-5 hours.
Recommended for ages 13 and up.
Contents: (1) 8x10 artist-quality, un-mounted canvas with pre-printed background, (8) American-made, non-toxic, acrylic paints, (2) Princeton brush paintbrushes, instructions
